Vietnamese cuisine is known for rice, fish sauce, herbs, and vegetables. There is an emphasis of serving fresh vegetables and fresh herbs as side dishes alongside a dipping sauce. Some common meats include pork, beef, chicken, and seafood.

A typical, family meal would include rice, meat, soup, vegetables, and soy sauce or fish sauce.

**Vietnamese Dishes**

Pho (Phở): A beef noodle soup with boiled meat and herbs broth. It’s usually served with a variety of meats (beef, chicken, meatballs).

Spring Rolls (Gỏi cuốn): Rice paper rolls that include shrimp, herbs, pork, and rice vermicelli. They are usually dipped in peanut sauce.

Banh Bao: Steamed bun dumpling stuffed with onion, mushrooms, or vegetables. They can also be stuffed with slices of marinated meat, boiled quail eggs, and pork.

Banh Mi Thit (Bánh mì kẹp thị): French bread with pate, Vietnamese mayonnaise, a selection of cold cuts, pickled daikon, carrots, and cucumber slices.

Bo Luc Lac (Bò lúc lắc): Cubed, marinated beef served over greens, sautéed onions and tomatoes. It’s Often eaten with rice.

Com Tam (Cơm tấm): Often with grilled pork and fried ground rice and often served with sweet and sour fish sauce. It’s also served with various greens and vegetables with paste cake.

Fried Rice: Fried rice varies, but it’s often with sautéed scallions, carrots, bean sprouts, eggs, sausage, fish sauce, and rice!
